1. Can
I drop the car at a different location from
where I collected it? (one way rental)
Yes. This is free of charge
within the state of Florida, except with U Save
where a charge will apply - if you need to make a
one way reservation with U Save, please call to
be advised of the cost..
2. Is the fuel included? Yes, in the Diamond package the initial tank of fuel is included in the price. In the Standard package all cars are supplied with a full tank, Alamo, Dollar and Thrifty require payment on arrival for the fuel, Budget will allow you to return the tank full, and not make a charge.
3. Will we all fit into the car? It is important to book the size of car you feel will accommodate your party & luggage, according to need. The icons showing the amount of luggage that can be taken in the car are for guidance only, based on that suppliers indicated volumes. Suitcases vary in size, and hard suitcases take up more room than soft ones. None of the rental companies will be held responsible if you book an incorrect car size and find you cannot fit in.
4. Will I be charged anything extra on arrival? The packages we sell are inclusive. Basic roadside assistance is also included. If you choose to take, and sign for, any other insurance option on arrival, it cannot be refunded to you later.
5. I think I will be the only driver, but can my partner choose to drive for just a couple of days? Extra drivers must be on the rental agreement for the duration of the booking.
6. I am under 25 years old, can I hire a car? Yes. We have several options for young drivers. Please see our dedicated Young Driver page for a detailed breakdown of availability for each supplier
7. What is a Young Drivers Package? The Young Driver Package, with Budget or Alamo, allows one driver between 21-24, and can only be booked in that persons name with the Diamond Package. Any other young drivers can also drive on payment of the normal $25 per day surcharge applied by all providers.
8. How soon will I get my voucher? If your rental commences within the next 8 weeks, you will receive your voucher within the next 3 working days. If your rental commences after this time, then you will receive your voucher during the 8th week before travel.
9. How do I know the money is taken safely? SagePay (formally Protx) is one of the largest independent payment service providers in the UK. SagePay has achieved the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). You can find out more about SagePay on their website.
10. I have points on my licence? The car hire companies require a full valid licence, held for at least one year. Points will not prevent you from hiring a car - but a ban will. Points will not incur any extra cost for the rental.
11. What do I need to take with me when I collect the car? You will need your voucher, your full licence (including both parts of the new style licence), and a credit card in the lead drivers name for the hire company to hold a security deposit.
12. Why do car hire companies need to hold a security deposit? The car hire companies take an imprint of your credit card in case they need to apply a charge, such as for fuel. They also put a 'hold' on to about $250 per week in case you fail to return the car! This 'hold' automatically 'falls off' when the rental is complete.
13. Will I need car seats for my children? Car seats are required for children up to the age of 5 in Florida, and children under the age of 12 are not allowed to travel in the front seat. Car seats are available for hire from all the providers for a daily charge which is paid on arrival. However, we recommend that you take your own as the airlines are happy to carry them in the hold.
